Annual Preventive Exam

The purpose of an annual physical exam or preventive health care visit is to screen for medical problems and promote preventative health.  Many insurances cover the cost including the copay of such a visit. The preventive health exam includes the following:

Height, weight, BMI and blood pressure screen

Brief review and update of medical, social and family history

Review of medications and supplements and refills as appropriate

Review of labs if done prior to the appointment

Brief physical exam including pap smear for women (if due)

Administration of immunizations

Order any screening exams (such as mammogram or colon cancer screening)

Counseling to improve overall health

Other concerns such as infections, injuries, acute pain or change in chronic pain, fatigue, menstrual or hormonal problems, treatment of a skin lesion or a active management of a chronic health condition such as diabetes or hypertension are NOT included.  If time permits and any of these issues are addressed, the front office will generate a separate charge which could include a copay.  A separate appointment may be necessary to adequately address the concern.
